MAJIK is the pure power of manifestation. Manifestation" is Latin "manufestus" meaning "palpable"/“manifest” and "manus" meaning "hand".

MAJIK is not magic. Without external tools, it is the original Co-creation, the directing of energies in a certain way, the management of the energy of intention. If we could see/sense and consciously direct the energies that make up both matter and consciousness itself, we would understand the effect of how the power of the mind manifests and what ultimately materializes.

Every creative process is a Majik - magical activity, where code-info passing through many different consciousness filters arrives in this density translated into the language of matter.
In the large-scale canvases of the triptych, hand-like figurative elements reduced to a minimum, reliefs and spontaneous painterly gestures, linework reflecting a more profound attention to detail, alternate with each other to create the basis for the dynamic principle of the work.
In the painting, the colour palette, dominated by a subdued white-blue-black-grey colour scheme, interspersed with silvery-gold hues, is a reference to this particular mystical event, which is the "Majik" itself.

What is the nature of reality? Are we the dreamers or are we being dreamed?
"We can come close to “Waking Up” if we dream that we are dreaming" (Novalis, German poet)
The Great Awakening is an insight into illusion and reality and their conditionality, where there is no "more real reality", since our access to "reality" is always mediated only through our experiences.
Part of the paradox is the question of how we anchor our consciousness to an identity. If we contemplate our waking dreams, once we start "contemplating" we are no longer fully present.
The dream experience described in the anecdote of Zhuangzi and the butterfly is a sense of self-awareness and two-self. It is a symbolic parallel to the dichotomy of life-death or waking-dream, or the dichotomy of any segmented state in a series of transformations. In other words, the anecdote symbolizes the tension between self and ego, between the physical and the spiritual soul, while the butterfly symbol itself represents, in a broader sense, the order of nature and the necessary "transformation".
The relief-like layers and the contrasting translucent surfaces represent a contrast between physical reality and dream, while the composition of the pictorial elements suggests a dream within a dream, a meaning reinforced by the deliberately fairy-tale-like representation and the spatiality of the 'wings' of the screen character itself.

In the Keylontic sciences, the representation of the 'sacred butterfly' represents the open circulation of energy, of frequency, from the higher dimensions to the lower dimensions and back again. There is a great deal of interconnectedness here, across dimensional levels, with other structural levels and ultimately with Source and the conscious self identity.

This captivating mixed technology painting combines digital and oil painting techniques to create a unique and visually striking self-portrait of the artist. The focal point of the artwork is the artist's face, which is depicted looking up with closed eyes and a serene expression of enjoyment. The artist's face is rendered with a pale complexion, emphasizing a sense of delicacy and vulnerability. Her lips are painted in a vibrant raspberry color, adding a pop of boldness and sensuality to the composition. The contrast between the pale complexion and the vivid lip color creates a visually striking effect, drawing attention to the artist's mouth and adding a touch of playfulness to the overall expression.

Surrounding the artist's face, blurred out lines create a sense of movement and energy. These lines add a dynamic element to the composition, suggesting a sense of the artist's creative process and the flow of ideas and emotions. The blurred lines also create a sense of depth and dimension, enhancing the overall visual impact of the artwork.

This captivating mixed technique artwork presents an intriguing and whimsical scene set within an empty interior. The focal point of the artwork is a checkerboard flooring, with alternating beige and black squares, creating a sense of order and structure. The checkerboard pattern adds a touch of playfulness and visual interest to the composition.
The combination of the checkerboard flooring, the characters engaged in creative work, the presence of the crows, and the color palette creates a visually captivating and thought-provoking composition that invites viewers into a whimsical and intriguing world, where creativity and imagination thrive.

Adding an element of intrigue and mystery, several black crows are depicted flying inside the interior. These crows, with their dark feathers and piercing eyes, create a sense of contrast against the beige and black color palette. They symbolize the presence of the unknown and the unexpected, adding a touch of surrealism to the artwork.
The color palette of beige and black is complemented by red accent colors, which add pops of vibrancy and visual interest. The red accents draw the viewer's attention to specific details within the artwork, creating focal points and enhancing the overall composition.

"Each work is a call to personal and collective memory. The idea of recovering through collage fragments of workshop drawings, of inserting text, the combinations of pastel, pasty material, transparent surfaces, glazes, in a post-modernist approach, in which I emphasize with irony and try to cut out the atmosphere of a period of time.
A politically difficult period, that of the 80s, which created and shaped mentalities still found today, finds its place in my artistic concerns.
These characters have domestic activities, with a whole inventory of household objects, some invented, convey a common image, in which I hope each viewer finds himself in some way."

Dan Badea's painting "Dialogue" is a captivating piece filled with rich symbolism. The presence of two characters, a female with a large speaker at her mouth and a male with a fish at his ear, immediately draws the viewer's attention. The juxtaposition of these objects suggests a contrast in communication styles or perhaps a struggle to be heard or understood.
The choice of a speaker amplifies the idea of the female figure's voice being powerful or dominant, while the fish at the male figure's ear may symbolize receptivity or a sense of being overwhelmed by information. This could hint at themes of gender dynamics, communication barriers, or the complexities of interpersonal relationships.

Through his depiction, Badea captures the essence of quiet contemplation and the simplicity of a life lived close to the water.
The fisherman's presence in the painting may symbolize themes of hard work, harmony with the environment, or the pursuit of a humble livelihood. The act of fishing is often associated with patience and the delicate balance between man and nature, reflecting a deeper connection to life's rhythms.

The figure's posture, bracing themselves in a position of vulnerability and surrender, speaks to the universal experience of seeking solace and rest in the midst of life's turbulence. This poignant portrayal prompts viewers to pause and reflect on their own relationship with rest, tranquility, and the challenges that surround them. The chaotic environment that envelops the sleeping figure serves as a metaphor for the complexities and uncertainties of the world around us. It prompts us to consider how we navigate through the noise and distractions of life, seeking moments of stillness and introspection to find clarity and inner peace.
As we immerse ourselves in the contemplative atmosphere of "Sleepiness," we are encouraged to look inward, to explore our own inner landscapes, and to consider how we can find moments of respite and reflection amidst the chaos of our daily lives. The painting becomes a mirror through which we can examine our own relationship with rest, self-care, and the pursuit of inner harmony.

These characters have domestic activities, with a whole inventory of household objects, some invented, convey a common image, in which I hope each viewer finds himself in some way." Dan Badea
In Dan Badea's thought-provoking painting titled "Vox Populi," the artist presents a compelling visual narrative that delves into the concept of public opinion and the influence of propaganda on society. The composition features a male character at the center, surrounded by a collage of drawings depicting various people and propaganda-like texts in Romanian language on either side of him

The title "Vox Populi," which translates to "voice of the people," hints at the central theme of the painting - the power and impact of collective opinion and mass communication. Through the juxtaposition of the male figure with the surrounding collage of drawings and texts, Badea explores the complexities of how individuals are shaped by societal influences, media messages, and public discourse.

The series of letter-sized paintings titled "Letters for Own Identity" by Romanian author Dan Badea delves into themes of self-discovery, personal growth, and the search for identity. Created using a mixed technique of paint, collage, and crayons, each of the 13 pieces in the series offers a unique exploration of these themes through a combination of colorful nonfigurative elements, figures, enigmas, and the incorporation of glued postage stamps.

The use of mixed media in these paintings allows for a rich and layered aesthetic, symbolizing the complexity of the human experience and the multifaceted nature of individual identity. The vibrant colors and abstract forms reflect the diversity of emotions, memories, and experiences that shape one's sense of self. The figures and enigmas present in the artworks suggest a deeper narrative or mystery waiting to be unraveled, inviting viewers to engage with the paintings on a more introspective level.

The symbolism within the artwork speaks to themes of self-care, introspection, and the importance of finding moments of respite in our busy lives. The woman's posture and closed eyes convey a state of restfulness and inner calm, highlighting the significance of taking time to unwind and recharge both physically and emotionally. Surrounding the woman are various household objects such as teapots and plants, which serve as symbols of domesticity and nurturing. The presence of these familiar objects adds a sense of comfort and familiarity to the scene, suggesting that the woman has created a cozy and inviting space for herself to retreat and unwind.
The painting serves as a gentle reminder to prioritize our well-being and to embrace moments of quietude and rejuvenation, ultimately emphasizing the value of nurturing our inner selves in the midst of life's hustle and bustle.

Theme and Symbolism

In Mircia Dumitrescu's aquarelle painting featuring a clown in green shades with his arm outstretched against a deep bluish background, the clown holds significant symbolism. Traditionally, clowns are associated with entertainment, humor, and performance. However, in this particular painting, the clown takes on a deeper and more introspective meaning.

The clown's presence in the painting may symbolize the complexities and contradictions of human nature. Clowns are often seen as figures who hide their true emotions behind a mask of exaggerated joy and laughter. The clown's green attire, representing growth and renewal, could suggest that beneath the facade of performance lies a journey of self-discovery and transformation.

Additionally, the outstretched arm of the clown, as if inviting the viewer to engage or reflect, may symbolize vulnerability and openness. The clown's gesture could be interpreted as a call to look beyond appearances and delve into deeper emotions and thoughts within oneself.

Overall, the significance of the clown in Mircia Dumitrescu's painting lies in its ability to evoke introspection, self-reflection, and a deeper exploration of the complexities of human experience.

Theme and Symbolism

In this aquarelle painting by Romanian artist Mircia Dumitrescu, we are presented with a circus musician playing the drums. The musician is depicted in pastel deep blue and red shades, adding a sense of depth and richness to the composition.
The use of these colors can carry symbolic meanings, with blue often representing tranquility, depth, and wisdom, while red is associated with passion, energy, and vitality.

The circus musician, engaged in playing the drums, embodies the concept of creativity and artistic talent. The drums symbolize rhythm, harmony, and the ability to create music that resonates with others. The musician's actions convey a sense of passion and dedication to their craft.

The empty background in the painting, with the musician's shadow subtly visible behind her, adds an intriguing element to the composition. The shadow could represent the inner self, hidden aspects of the musician's personality, or the idea of the subconscious mind. It suggests a duality of existence, with the visible musician in the foreground and her shadow hinting at deeper layers of identity and emotion.

Marin Sorescu
Untitled painting

" Marin Sorescu (1936-96) was a cheerfully melancholic comic genius, and one of the most original voices in Romanian literature. His mischievous poetry and satirical plays earned him great popularity during the Communist era. While his witty, ironic parables were not directly critical of the régime, Romanians used to a culture of double-speak could read other meanings in his playful mockery of the human condition. But later – like a hapless character from one of his absurdist dramas – the peasant-born people’s poet was made Minister of Culture, in Ion Iliescu’s post-Ceauçescu government."

On the surfaces of the paintings "Twenty-three and a Half", the landscapes with their surreal atmosphere, the shapes suggesting dynamic movement and the reliefs in relief, which give the illusion of light and darkness, suggest the relative nature of things "near" and "far" respectively.
Coded visions translated into the language of matter create unusual, seemingly new "fields of reality".

Ultimately, what is "important", what is significant and what is insignificant, what is micro and what is macro, is determined only by the person who focuses.
There is a web of connections between invisible events and visible, measurable phenomena that we cannot see and therefore cannot measure - so our choice is ultimately always the same: to ignore 'information' coming through intuitive channels in favour of what we can see and measure.
Forgetting that the conditions of our existence are in fact created by invisible larger conditions... Whether it be the Earth as a planetary body ... ( 23.5 degrees is exactly the tilt of the Earth's axis... )

"Dreams of an AI" is a series of three paintings created between June 2023 and 2024, exploring the psychological concept of the "uncanny valley" - the uneasy feeling elicited by objects that closely resemble humans but fall short, sparking a mix of sympathy, disgust, and fear.
This phenomenon extends beyond humanoid objects to all visual realms, including those generated by AI. Through realistic color contrasts and shadow play, my paintings offer a sense of comfort akin to our familiar world. However, juxtaposed sharp contrasts, soft spots, and unrecognizable surfaces create an eerie, unsettling atmosphere that prompts viewers to interpret and explore further.
The motif of games in my work holds strong emotional significance, as they mimic reality but exist on the uncanny curve. Humanoid features in these games trigger a mix of affection and "cute aggression," where our desire to care can unexpectedly turn into aggression. By evoking such intense reactions, cuteness is a common tool in media to elicit responses, though the long-term effects are still unknown.
Through this series, I aim to provoke a lasting impression in viewers, igniting internal reflection and leaving a memorable impact.

"Deleted Files of Childhood" is a series that began in March 2024, with some pieces currently in progress. These artworks delve into the impact of traumatic childhood memories on our brain structure, even if we cannot consciously recall them.
The series serves as a metaphor for how just the act of viewing these paintings can create new connections in the brain, sparking subtle but significant changes. The settings depict children's rooms with an eerie atmosphere, drawing inspiration from the unsettling "Backrooms" theory explored in various art videos. These videos present infinite, slightly different corridors and rooms, each evoking a distinct mood.
Through figures leaping out of planes, unidentifiable objects, and disorienting lights and shadows, the paintings challenge viewers to question the space and location depicted. The aim is to provoke initial confusion and inspire a deeper exploration of the forms and the enigmatic spaces portrayed. By encouraging internal interpretation and reflection, the series prompts viewers to confront their own unsettling and chaotic inner memories.

"Membraneverse" is the title of one of my series, where the concept of a membrane represents an enclosure or limitation, drawing from its biological significance. In my artistic journey, I often find myself grappling with form, occasionally encountering obstacles or "membranes" that create barriers between my creations and me. These barriers, akin to blocks, are surprisingly relatable in the realm of art reception and psychology, as we all face our own internal barriers."

Just as biological membranes are crucial for cellular life, shaping the internal composition of cells, the imagery in Membraneverse functions similarly in the art world. Amorphous shapes enclosed within delimited boundaries float as distinct entities within the artwork, juxtaposed against a vast, open space. This interplay mirrors the complexities found in microbiology, where boundaries and free space coexist in harmony. (Source: Taurus Cornu Petit - What is art informal? podcast conversation)

The work "Repetitions and repetitions" is also another example of the already mentioned background/figure duality - form as repression. Shapeless signs that resemble wounds and soak up paint, repeating a single theme, enliven the screen printing technique of pop art, however, instead of a mechanical process, the manually inflicted wounds create a perforated membrane from the background, which produces permeable cuts in a ribbon-like manner - these distinguishing metaphysical trickles continue they continue the tradition of the dialectical movement of photorealism-abstraction primarily associated with Richter and Polke, and present a new version of the psychoanalytic dynamic of masking/sighting. The retro-fetishistic relationship between contemporary neo-abstraction and manual processes points to the post-production tendencies of abstract painting suffering from a lack of future vectors and critical imperatives[1], which alienates it from the community and banishes this aesthetic to an individual space-time. Alíz Menta Sipos takes advantage of this vulnerability to space-time - the conscious attraction to radical solitude and confinement, the nihilistic attitude gives release from the eternal cycle and escapes her works from dozens of abstracts that blindly apply Greenbergian-formalist principles. It is important for both the artwork and the artist to tap into their raw and authentic reality, free from logic and comprehension. We need to acknowledge that all these aspects exist within us simultaneously and embrace them in a secure environment. It may be our role to bridge the gap between our inner selves and others. I believe that beyond our sophisticated communication efforts, we also require raw, unfiltered encounters. Informal painting, with its abstract expression in creation and reception, serves as a powerful conduit for this profound connection, allowing for direct and unmediated engagement.

The concept of freedom of the press extends to freedom of art as well. Does art abide by restrictions on expression? Can artistic form restrict what needs to be conveyed in a different context? What boundaries govern the transfer of ideas into print? These questions challenge the confines of verbal communication.
